2022 CrossFit Games Day Five Results — Champions are here to stay

The 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin are over — and the same winners as last year’s competition are atop the podium. Overall men’s winner Justin Medeiros became the third man in history to win back-to-back games (joining Rich Froning and Matt Frazier).

Australian athlete Tia-Clair Toomey won her sixth consecutive Games title, becoming the winningest individual competitor in the history of the CrossFit Games. The star of Day Five in the individual divisions, however, was Laura Horvath.

A stellar performance in all three of the day’s events shot Horvath to third on the overall podium, behind Toomey and runner-up Mal O’Brien. Check out the full results from day five below:

Individual Event 11 Results — Alpaca

The first event on the final day of competition in Madison was when Roman Khrennikov cemented his place as the second fittest man on Earth®. In rainy conditions that forced organizers to remove the rope climbs from the event for safety, Khrennikov crossed the finish line first and put plenty of distance between him and Ricky Garrard with two events to go.

Horvath also built the momentum he needed with a huge win in the first event of the final day. She smoked the field by 40 seconds in The Alpaca to claim victory.

Individual Event 12 Results — Back Nine

Horvath went two-for-two on the final day, racking up another huge win in Event 12, moving the heaviest barbell and heaviest deadlift ever programmed at the CrossFit Games. Jeffrey Adler, a heavy-tool master, also made quick work of the event.

Toomey’s rally in the Back Nine effectively locked her up as the overall winner, even with one event remaining. O’Brien was too far behind Toomey to challenge for the top spot in the overall standings, but too far behind the others that her silver medal position could be in jeopardy.

Individual Event 13 Results — Jackie Pro

All Medeiros needed to do to lock up his second straight Games title was finish ninth or better in the final event. That was almost certainly in the cards given how consistent Medeiros was throughout the race week. He finished third overall to retain his Games title, despite not winning any of the 13 events at the 2022 Games. Adler claimed his second consecutive event victory to finish fifth overall.

Campbell took her second event win of the weekend in her Games debut – a great performance as she finished the Games in 16th position overall. Toomey finished 10th in the event and secured a place in CrossFit history.
