After almost five decades, Bizzarrini brings back the iconic sports car with the 5300 GT Corsa Revival, a modern sports car following the original blueprints. Before diving deep into the fine details of the authentic recreation of Giotto Bizarini’s first car, let’s first take a trip back in time to the 1960s and learn the fascinating history of the company and its founder who designed the amazing GT 5300 Corsa.

Giotto Bizarini began his career in the automotive industry in 1953 with Alfa Romeo. He trained as a test driver and engineer at the Alfa Romeo factory before joining Ferrari in 1957. Giotto’s most notable achievement at Ferrari was designing the 250 GTO and SWB 250 sports cars. However, he was fired by Enzo Ferrari in 1961, along with other key engineers, in an event known as the Palace Rebellion. Ferruccio Lamborghini, Enzo’s arch-rival, seized the opportunity and commissioned Giotto to design Lamborghini’s first V12 engine. This twelve-cylinder mill was first used in the 1963 350 GT, then in the 2010 Murcielago.

Taking every opportunity to rise and succeed, Giotto Bizarini partnered with the Italian industrialist Renzo Rivolta to develop sports cars for the latter’s Iso brand. From this collaboration emerged the Iso Grifo A3/C – a radical evolution of the Iso Grifo A3/L road car, also designed by Bizzarrini. While Iso’s goal was to produce the road-going A3/L, Giotto focused on developing the A3/C. Later that year, the cooperative working relationship between the two Italian industrialists broke down and they went their separate ways.

Buoyed by his past successes, Giotto finally founded his own eponymous brand. Initially, the talented Italian engineer designed variants of the Grifo A3/L and A3/C models, called 5300 GT Strada and 5300 GT Corsa respectively. Between 1964 and 1968, Bizzarrini released a series of brilliant sports cars, including the open-cockpit P538 sports prototype and the 1900 GT Europa. Bizzarrini has a rich history in motorsport. The legendary 5300 GT Corsa won its class and came first at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965, beating Ferrari in the race. But despite this proud history, Bizzarrini closed its doors in 1969.

Did 1969 mark the end of the Italian brand? Definitely not! In 2018, Kuwait-owned Pegasus Brands acquired the trademarks and intellectual property rights to the Bizzarrini brand. As an international dealer group that represents iconic brands such as Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Pegasus conducts its operations in London, Geneva, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, USAand the Far East.

With a successful track record in the high-end automotive industry, Pegasus also has a stake in Aston Martin Works and owns Sports Classics, a global classic car business offering the best classic car services – including purchase, servicing, restoration and advice – to discerning buyers of classic cars around the world. Above all, Pegasus operates its UAE-based Pegasus Prestige Service Center servicing high-end luxury vehicles.

For the 5300 GT Corsa Revival, 24 examples of the tribute to the original 5300 GT will be hand-built in Bizzarrini’s dedicated factory in the UK. The first Bizzarrini 5300 GT Corsa Revival prototype has now hit the roads for final endurance tests before production and delivery of the first cars to customers.

As the exclusive and official distributor of the Bizzarrini brand, Pegasus Automotive Group launches this exotic car in Middle East and around the world. in July 2022the first batch of the new 5300 GT Corsa Revival has arrived at customers.

Using original drawings from the masterpiece of the 1960s, the engineers involved in the new Bizzarrini added some improvements keeping in mind modern safety regulations. For example, the original car’s fuel tanks were located deep in the door sills as well as behind the driver. Now the fuel tank, created using 3D scanning technology, fills the gap in the chassis. As a result, the fuel capacity increased to 95 litres, providing one hour and eight minutes of operation at full speed, thus keeping the range within the repeated racing requirements.

Bizzarrini 5300 GT Corsa Revival tests revealed that the new exotic car is stiffer than Giotto Bizzarrini’s original car, with a one-piece lightweight composite body constructed on a steel frame. At only 1,250 kg, the modern Bizzarrini has an excellent power-to-weight ratio.

Inside, a six-point roll cage protects the two available seats. The period-specific 400 hp 5.3-liter V8 engine. with Weber 45 carburettors is matched with independent rear suspension and full disc brakes to match Giotto’s Corsa specification.

For the Rosso Corsa red paint, the Bizzarrini team found an original body panel hidden from the light all these years and color-matched it to achieve the Rosso Corsa shade that would be applied to all new Revival models.

dr Said DanaPresident and CEO of Pegasus Automotive Group – Retail, said: β€œThe global luxury car market was valued at approx 410 billion dollars in 2020 and is projected to grow to 566 billion dollars in 2026.”
