ADRIAN — The unsung heroes of our homes, our dogs, will be celebrated during August’s edition of First Fridays in downtown Adrian, scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Today’s First Fridays are themed Dog Days of Summer.

While Adrian “goes to the dogs,” relevant events include a pet parade, group photos, contests and several chances to win prizes. Although First Friday events don’t begin until around 5:30 p.m., several downtown streets will close starting at 2:30 p.m., according to a news release from the city of Adrian. The streets are expected to reopen to motorists around 11 p.m

The following streets and parking lots will be closed to public use:

  • West Maumee Street, from North Broad to North Winter streets.
  • North Main Street, from East Church to East Front streets.
  • Washburn Street, closing half a block to North Main Street.
  • Toledo Street, closing half a block to North Main Street.
  • Toledo Street Pavilion Parking Lot.
  • Partial closure of Winter Street car park, behind Citizens Gas.
